Workplace Giving

Workplace Giving is a simple program that allows you the opportunity to donate to Chances directly from your gross salary each pay period.

There are many ways to donate to the Chances for Children Foundation but for organisations, the simplest way is through the Chances for Children Workplace Giving Program. Through Workplace Giving, employees can make pre-tax donations directly from their pay, nominating the amount they wish to contribute, with the option of changing it, or ceasing donations, whenever they choose.

One of Chances for Children’s longest Workplace Giving partnerships is with the Mildura Fruit Company and previous General Manager, Perry Hill, believes the staff get great satisfaction out of being part of something delivering such an important benefit to the community. “I think it’s offered them a real sense of giving, particularly knowing there are young local people benefiting and having a better chance of success, because of their contributions. We’ve heard some really great stories out of the Chances program and these definitely resonate with our staff. It’s a great way for businesses to have some community engagement and impact.”

Gayle Kennedy has been a workplace giver with the Mildura Fruit Company since 2008 and she agrees with Perry, saying she values knowing she’s part of something that makes a real difference. “I love hearing about the recipients, their goals and achievements. Chances is about supporting children to complete their education and become independent and so many of them return after studying and give back to our community, that’s really special.”

Still dressed in her student nurse’s uniform, Prue Dodemaide stands in the gardens of the Mildura Fruit Company, proudly smiling for photos as her young daughter, Sienna looks on. With Chances support, Prue has just completed her Diploma in Nursing at Sunraysia Institute of TAFE and commenced a Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University in 2022.

“This program has meant the world to me. I can’t begin to tell you… The Chances Scholarship has opened doors for me and taught me not to give up on my dreams. I’ve learnt so much while studying, developed new friendships, community networks and importantly, I’ve shown my daughter that no matter what, you can achieve your goals.”

Prue first heard about Chances when she was adjusting to life as a mother. “Being a young mum, my financial situation was limited, there was never any extra money at the end of each week, leaving me with no prospect to further my education. Learning about Chances and what it offered changed everything. “The Chances for Children Scholarship has enabled me to make my dreams a reality and to build a strong and enriched life for myself and my daughter.”
