Our Mission
"To ensure that the absence of money does not stand in the way of a young person's ability to achieve their maximum potential, be it in educational, social or cultural pursuits which contribute to the realisation of their potential - and the enhancement of the their contribution to the communities of the Mallee."
Chances For Children is an initiative of Mallee Family Care Inc. and the Water Authorities of North West Victoria. The program commenced in 2001, the result of a desire to develop a project of mutual interest and shared benefit to communities of the Mallee.
The Chances for Children Fund was established in response to social and economic disadvantage in the region which impacts on the capacity of young people in the Mallee to fulfill their potential both in personal achievement and in their contribution to the community.
Philosophically, the program is driven by Social Justice Principles (Access, Rights, Participation & Equity) and the organisational values of Mallee Family Care, namely a belief that communities are enriched by:
PARTICIPATION - Community ownership, local relevance and the part played by volunteers.
PARTNERSHIPS - Government, business and community groups working to build social capacity.
PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE - Commitment to excellence in service delivery.
