How to Contact Us
Volunteers are invited to participate in either of the Reading Discovery Program models.
Comprehensive training and ongoing support is provided to all volunteers involved in the program. As part of the application process, anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is required to undergo a Police Check and/or a Working with Children check.
Volunteer Duties include:
• To support families as they read, sing and play with their children in their home environment/playgroup each week.
• To engage children in books & encourage parents to gain skills in reading to their children.
• To sing songs and nursery rhymes to children and encourage the family to build their own collection of known songs.
• To model & engage families in pretend play using the story-play format.
• Encourage parents/carers to become actively involved in reading, singing & playing with their children.
• Provide a brief session outline and observations of each visit (home visits only).
