Chances for Children > How it Works
Chances for Children assists children and young people from the Mallee Family Care catchment area of North West Victoria and South West NSW.

Chances has two funding rounds each year, usually in March/April & again in September/October. Dates for these rounds are available at the beginning of each year from Chances staff.

Although Chances has no strict rules on governance of the program, it has a bottom up approach to governing the program.

Working Groups made up of local business people, recipients and other interested people within the community feed information to the Chances Committee of Management who report directly to the Mallee Family Care Board of Management. This allows for local input at each level of governance.

Chances for Children relies heavily on the support of local individuals and businesses, including Corporate Partners, Sustaining Supporters and Workplace Givers. This is a unique way of running a program, in that it helps create community capacity building – locals helping locals.
