As with many programs of this type, the support of volunteers is required for it to be a success.

The key requirements to look for in a Learn Lead Achieve volunteer include:

• Skills in engaging with & building a relationship with the student/s & school community
• Regular availability of time to commit to the program (minimum one hour per week)
• Interest in learning and assisting young people to achieve in school
• Ability to undertake training as required for the role
• Completion of relevant Police and Working with Children checks as required

Types of activities a volunteer may be involved in with the student/s include:

• Reading skills
• Playing educational games that develop game protocols, confidence and promote learning
• Story or sentence writing
• Assisting the student/s in class projects and staying on task
